That\u2019s an open question. But here are some thought starters.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may be a bit of dark humor, but it raises a good point. The\npandemic is transforming businesses and jobs at an unprecedented rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universities had been \u201cdabbling with\u201d online learning for\ndecades with mixed progress. But now most have been forced to offer the bulk of\neducation digitally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of millions of people are suddenly working remotely\nrather than from a business office. While the productivity cannot be accurately\nassessed due to the complexity of issues related to sheltering-in-place, the\nfact remains it\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Millions of people have lost their jobs, and many will need\nto find new positions in a brave new world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are large-scale social experiments occurring in real\ntime. I don\u2019t know if they represent a new normal for business. But they do\nrepresent new practices, at least some of which will carry into an ambiguous\nmacroeconomic future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Economists are uncertain whether our recovery will be a V (rapid\nuptick after bottoming out), U (recovery after a slump), or L (a lengthy\ndepressed economy before clawing back up). There\u2019s a ton of ambiguity\nsurrounding the future. But that\u2019s what product managers are supposed to be\ngood at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a product manager, it\u2019s time to evaluate potential outcomes\nof these circumstances. Do you have the type of product that will be relevant\nin the new future? Can you identify changes or new products that will be better\nfits? Will you be able to elevate your productivity and product success while\nworking remotely?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Read broadly. Pay attention to economists, futurists, and strategic\nthinkers. And stay strong. You are not alone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
